OTL Plowing Ahead Deep Sea Mining Field

OTL Plowing Ahead Deep Sea Mining Field

While completed a global configuration design effort for a very deep sea mining system a few month ago, OTL is now contracted with the confidential client to perform a conceptual design of the deep sea mining system.

OTL is responsible for the global system design, coordinating the different subsystem design contractors such as the subsea nodule miner, subsea slurry lifting pump, ROV, dewatering plant, positioning and navigation, metocean, etc., in addition to its own design scopes covering the riser system and the production support vessel.

While technical challenges exist in multiple areas, at completion of the conceptual design, it is expected that the feasibility and the economic evaluation of the deep sea mining project will be resolved, and a FID will be made for the project to enter into next stage.

Another Deep Water Jacket Design Verification

OTL has signed contract with CCS to perform third party independent verification of the CNOOC’s Liuhua 11-1 deep water jacket detailed design. Teaming up with DNV, CCS has been awarded the classification and certification services contract by CNOOC Shenzhen for the Liuhua 11-1 development, including the verification of the detailed design of the jacket. OTL will cover the pre-services design conditions and also assist CCS’ other certification works at request.

OTL Enlarged Client Base

OTL is pleased to announce that CPEC (China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corp.) has awarded a contract to OTL for an international transportation and installation study project for different locations in the world and different sizes of offshore platforms. OTL is honored to officially become a qualified contractor to CPEC and expect to have significant contribution to CPEC’s offshore projects.

Offshore Wind Farm Once Again

OTL has been awarded a contract by Guangdong Electrical Design Institute (GEDI) for the heavy wind farm transformer platform jacket launch analysis. OTL is happy to be involved into the large size offshore wind farm platform design, in addition to OTL’s previous involvement of offshore wind turbine supporting structure design.

OTL Awarded Joint Design Contract for SK International Deepwater Jacket

Following up to OTL’s deep involvement of a series of deep water jacket design including Lufeng14-4 (144 m water depth), Lufeng15-1 (286 m water depth) and Liuhua11-1 (330 m water depth), OTL has been awarded another deep water jacket design by CNOOC Research Institute. OTL will provide technical assistances to CNOOC to complete the FEED design of the Lufeng12-3 jacket located in 240 m water depth for SK International, a South Korean conglomerate.

OTL Started Mining the Deep Sea

OTL has just completed a Deep Sea Mining Global Sizing Design for a confidential client. The targeted deep sea mine is located in water depth between 5000 m to 6000 m. OTL performed global sizing engineering to define the functionality requirement of the entire system, including the PSV (Production Support Vessel), the RALS (Riser and Lifting System), the pump and the subsea mining machine. Even though this is OTL’s first deep sea mining engineering project, OTL developed all necessary theories and engineering tools to perform complicated lifting analyses by air-lifting and pumping methods.

OTL Assisted Successful Fish Farm Installation

OTL has been awarded a contract in late 2019 to assist the client for the loadout, transport and installation of a very large cylindrical fish farm. OTL is responsible for the conceptual design and the detailed design of the said scope of works. The fish farm was loaded-out from fabrication yard onto a semi-submersible vessel by SPMT method, dry transported to the fish farm site, offloaded when the appropriate weather window become available and subsequently completed the mooring system installation.

Another Very Deep Water Jacket to OTL

OTL is pleased to announce that OTL has been awarded a contract by CNOOC Research Institute to perform the third party independent verification for the FEED of the Liuhua 11-1 deepwater jacket. The jacket will be in water depth of 330 m and will be one of the largest jacket structure in the world. Following OTL’s participation of CNOOC’s recent deep water jacket designs, this contract award elevates OTL’s deepwater platform design capability to another height.

ABS Certification

OTL has again successfully passed the ABS ISO 9001:2019 audit. It is OTL’s commitment to develop and maintain a system enabling OTL to deliver high and trackable quality works to our clients.

A Fresh Start in Year 2020: Kick-off LF15-1 Deepwater Jacket Detailed Design Verification

OTL has previously been awarded the third party verification contract by ABS/CCS/CNOOC Shenzhen. The work scope includes independent modeling and analysis of the LF15-1 deepwater jacket in 286 m water depth for the FEED and Detailed Design, as well as review and verification of all specifications and drawings. Verification of the FEED design has been completed in October 2019. CNOOC Shenzhen project personnel has met with OTL project team on Jan. 2, 2020 to kick-off the detailed design verification scope for the LF15-1. OTL will start the project as soon as detailed design data become available.
