OTL Visits Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute to Strength Cooperative Ties

On October 24th, OTL's President, Jim Li, visited the Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute (GEDI) with a delegation. Last year, GEDI had granted an Offshore Transformer Platform Key Technology Study project to OTL. Mr. Li extended his gratitude to the Institute and offered a briefing about the ongoing project as well as proposed areas in which both sides could participate. OTL and GEDI jointly discussed the development of technologies such as offshore wind platforms and deepwater platforms.

New Semi-Submersible Model Test with SANY

OffshoreTech LLC and SANY collaboratively carried out model tests on the newly developed Tapered-Column Deep Draft Semi-Submersible (TCDD-Semi) platform concept design in State Key Laboratory of Ocean Engineering at Shanghai Jiaotong University. A series of tests are being conducted to demonstrate the platform's performance in various design environment conditions.

On October 24th, OTL's President, Jim Li, led a delegation to visit South China University of Technology in Guangzhou, China. OTL introduced in detail their own capabilities and R&D ideas. Chen Chaohe, Vice Dean Director of the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation, fully recognized OTL's comprehensive strength and expressed his appreciation for the visit. Chen also hoped that both sides could further future cooperation for building student training, joint research project applications, and expert lectures. Both parties stated that they will work to enhance communication and explore possibilities for collaboration on specific projects.

Guam Floating Dock Successfully Transported

 

OffshoreTech LLC is proud to announce that, in conjunction with ZPMC-OTL Marine Contractor Ltd., the Ex-Machinist (AFDB-8), an 883ft x 174ft dry dock, has been successfully transported on board the M/V Zhen Hua 28. OTL's engineering team worked closely in concert with the client's needs to ensure the integrity of the cargo and vessel as it travels the route from Guam to Shanghai.

TL presented a technical paper written by Dr. Tuanjie Liu, Marine and Riser Manager, to the ISOPE Conference in Rhodes, Greece (June 26-July 1). The paper, "Tapered Column Deep Draft Semi-Submersible (TCCD-Semi) Platform for Dry-Tree Application," presents a new concept featuring lower hull geometry with a gradually varying column cross section in contrast to the conventional semi-submersible design with uniform columns.
